STREAMING

A streamer or music streamer is an adapter that can receive and transmit a digital signal. All our streamers are designed to be easy to use. You simply connect it to your existing system – no matter if it’s an amplifier or active speakers.

The streamed signal will often be music from a streaming platform. There are different ways to do this. The cheapest is often a Bluetooth receiver that transmits the direct audio from your phone or tablet. The advantage of Bluetooth is that all sound is played easily from your mobile, no matter what app the sound originates from. We have built-in Bluetooth in all our active speakers and amplifiers, so you can get started playing wireless music right away. If you have an existing setup where you want a Bluetooth connection, you can also easily get started by buying a Bluetooth receiver - for example BT3 or BT2 MK2. All our products use the more advanced protocols, like aptX and aptX HD for the best possible connection and sound quality.

STREAMING VIA WI-FI

There are several ways to stream via Wi-Fi. Streaming with Wi-Fi means that the audio signal is being transferred through your home Wi-Fi network. This prevents the signal from dropping out if you get too far away from your streamer/speaker or if somebody calls you up on your phone. Playing music via Wi-Fi is super easy and you get hi-fi sound quality as long as you have a stable Wi-Fi connection. All devices on your Wi-Fi network can connect to your music streamer and play music by using different methods and providers. The most popular are Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Roon.

All Apple smartphones, tablets and computers support AirPlay 2. This streaming protocol can play all audio from your phone wirelessly. Chromecast is Google's alternative, which works on most smartphones and tablets and is supported by a wide selection of apps. If you're a Spotify super-user, Spotify Connect might be the best way to stream your music. However, unlike AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, which can stream audio from many different apps, Spotify Connect only supports playback of audio from Spotify directly.

Roon is a software application on your computer that indexes and presents your music in a cool way. Roon also supports multi-room and can be the link between several different streaming systems. All your music and streaming services can be linked together in Roon and played across devices in your house network. Perfect if you want to listen to your own music.

Our STREAM 2M MK2 is a great starting point if you want Wi-Fi streaming. In STREAM 2M MK2 you get internet radio and Spotify Connect. You can also upgrade to the STREAM 3M if you cannot live without a Radio tuner with DAB+/FM and Bluetooth connection.
