AUDIOPHILE MUSIC STREAMER WITH CHROMECAST, AIRPLAY 2, SPOTIFY CONNECT & ROON READY
We’ve packed SOLO full of features so you’ll never need another streamer. Nice, right? With SOLO you get AirPlay2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth and Roon Ready. We’ll continue to update SOLO with new features as well, so if anything new and exciting comes along, we’ll be sure to add it in a future update – completely free of course. With analogue, optical and coaxial outputs, connection SOLO to anything should be a breeze.
In designing the SOLO, we made sure to make a product that would make audiophiles happy, but at a price where everyone can get in on the fun. With a signal-to-noise ratio of over 120 dBA, 64 bit volume control and high end components where they really make a difference (but not where they don’t), you can be sure you’ll hear every detail of your favorite songs. Having separate low noise power supplies with two stage (active/passive) filtering might sound like mumbo jumbo but have a listen to SOLO and we promise you can hear the difference.
Making a product without an Ethernet connection is a bold move. To make sure you don’t get drop outs, we’ve designed the wireless connection on SOLO with powerful dual band AC Wi-Fi using diversity antennas. You should have no problem with 24 bit/192 kHz lossless playback over Wi-Fi if your own network is up to the task. The internal Wi-Fi antennas have been placed so that the area with analogue circuits is completely radio-dead, while at the same time covering 360 degrees around the product.
REVIEWS OF SOLO
The Argon Audio SOLO fulfils its promise: Audio streaming made easy. It does so without any fuzz, which is (unfortunately) still remarkable in streaming land. The SOLO offers a particularly wide range of streaming options. Supporting AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth there is something for every music lover out there, and with Roon Ready even the most discerning audiophile is happy!
Argon Audio SOLO is definitely a great little box! It can be connected with various streaming services, is easy and reliable to set up and provides a really clean sound that even demanding listeners will be satisfied with.
Grade: 1.3 | Class: Premium Class | Price/Performance: Very good
Incredibly easy to operate streamer that sounds better than de € 249 price suggests.
The size of a few CD jewel cases with only a LED on the front and a setup button at the rear. And of course audio connection. The SOLO is as minimalistic as it gets. But don’t be mistaken, It could just as well be named a jewel case for it holds a technological gem. Elegance in its simplest form at only € 249
The sound quality of the Argon Audio SOLO is on a level that I would hardly have expected from streaming players under 500 euros. The Solo isn't the most dynamic, high-octane or analytical detail freak, but scores with a perhaps minimally distanced, but mature, relaxed, sovereign, distortion-free, clean and spacious sound for enjoyment. With Bluetooth, AirPlay and Roon Ready, its equipment is quite extensive, even if not complete. The feel, workmanship and design are excellent for the money. In addition, I didn't have a single problem during my entire time with the SOLO: all connections worked immediately, there were no Wifi wobbles or even dropouts.
The Argon Audio SOLO is a real price-sound recommendation!
