Built to last

Building upon our very successful TT-3 turntable, we’ve basically kept everything that makes that turntable great, and amped everything else up to the next level. As a result, in TT-4, you get a thicker, sturdier plinth, a heavier platter and improved decoupling feet. All this works in tandem to provide a better foundation for your records; meaning you get lower distortion caused by vibrations and a more clear, natural sound.

02

Carbon fiber and custom components

A tonearm needs to be both very lightweight, but also extremely rigid at the same time. Since carbon fiber scores high in both categories, it is pretty much a perfect material for tonearms, and we have therefore decided to use this for the first time in an Argon Audio turntable. To make the upgrade complete, we’ve also fitted an even better pick up from Danish Ortofon at the end of the arm. The 2M Red has long been the MM-pickup to beat at its price point, and we think it sounds fantastic on our TT-4 as well.

TT-4 comes with a built-in phono amplifier (MM) of very high quality. This means that TT-4 can be used with all amplifiers and active speakers directly – no external phono amplification needed. We’ve even custom designed the built-in amplification to sound way better than anything available at this price point, using high-quality components only. And don’t worry: when the phono amplifier is turned off, it has no effect on the signal path.

03

ATS – Anisotropic Torsion Stabilizer

Hey – don’t leave! This ATS stuff sounds technical, but we promise it makes sense. In making the new carbon fiber tonearm, we found that there were some nasty internal resonances and distortions of the arm going on that negatively impacted the performance of the stylus when tracking the groove. The good news is that we have solved it! Basically, the trick is this: we make a very small, precise aperture along the underside of the tonearm. This cut does not affect the weight or stiffness of the arm, but it eliminates resonances caused by torsion (bending/curving), which would normally cause unwanted noise and distortion that would travel all the way out into your speakers. The result: you get the clearest, cleanest sound you have ever heard from a turntable in this price range.

HiFi Reviews

"This deck is all about pitch-perfect, accurate music replay, aided by a 1.5kg platter, heavyweight MDF plinth and vibration-damping feet – even the 8.9in carbon-fibre tonearm features an ATS (Anisotropic Torsion Stabiliser) system to minimise resonances. Ease of use is aided by the TT-4’s integrated, high-quality RIAA phono preamp, electronic speed control and prefitted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. And with its timeless combination of wood veneer, black and white chassis options, this overperforming turntable is a bit of a looker too…"

"The Argon Audio TT-4 is a highly complete turntable that can certainly compete with its main competitors at this price point. The finish is of a high standard, and the heavy-duty construction ensures a great playback of your vinyl collection. Additionally, the presence of a better-quality built-in phono amplifier makes the TT-4 a versatile turntable that you can connect to the aux input of a wireless speaker or soundbar, expanding its functionality even further"

"The Argon Audio TT-4 is impressive on multiple levels: its timeless and elegant design, its sophisticated concept, the high-quality tonearm, the excellent cartridge system, and of course, its integrated phono preamplifier. The combination of style and features is further complemented by its sound quality. In my testing, it proved to be an exciting all-rounder that can handle soft tones just as well as rocking guitar sounds and heavy bass beats. All things considered, this Danish turntable is an unconditional recommendation for vinyl newcomers with high sound demands, as well as those who are looking for a cool and flexible turntable without the need for many hi-fi components cluttering their living space."

"The Argon Audio TT-4 turntable delivers unexpectedly dynamic and quiet playback with extended and articulated bass range and virtually non-existent background noise. It excellently reproduces a piano, giving a sound that is very close to that of a live instrument."

Read review (Italian)

"The Argon Audio TT-4 is a well-designed and sophisticated turntable with a massive appearance that looks great in any setup. Its finish is top-notch, and if you prefer not to use an external phono box, you can simply turn on the internal amp. The sound quality is perfectly tailored to the warm vinyl feeling, but it also delivers nice pressure from the speaker level. Despite its reasonable price, one might be tempted to find a catch. But in reality, there isn't one. The TT-4 is a great choice for any vinyl lover."
